Alan Glen & Dave Peabody + Simon Prager & Doc Stenson + Robert Chaney : The Goose Is Out! The Ivy House, 40 Stuart Road, SE15 3BE. Friday 26 May. 7PM. Tickets available https://www.wegottickets.com/thegooseisout Alan Glen is best known for his work with The Yardbirds, Nine Below Zero, Little Axe, and his own band The Barcodes. Dave Peabody has been voted ‘Acoustic Blues Artist of the Year’ 3 times by the British Blues Connection and Blues In Britain magazine. He’s also been a guitar accompanist for such U.S. blues artists as legendary Mississippi guitarist David ‘Honeyboy’ Edwards. Simon Prager has been involved in the British blues scene since the ‘60s. He played occasionally with the late JoAnn Kelly and accompanied Sonny Terry when half of that legendary duo, Brownie McGhee, became ill. Now he performs solo and in various other combinations, tonight as part of a duo with Kevin ‘Doc’ Stenson. ‘Doc’ Stenson sings and plays guitar, blues, country and Celtic harmonica. He played in the folk blues and R’n’B circuits with his own bands for a long time. Robert Chaney hails from Florida USA, his songs are woven from tabloid headlines, crimes, and love affairs. Stretched within their warp are threads of the dusty shellac blues of the 20s and 30s, the hyper-violent pulp noir of the 40s, the cable-knit folk revival of the 50s, and the French celluloid new wave of the 60s.
